Instructions for Installing CloudMonitor - START HERE

Follow these steps to download and connect CloudMonitor to your Azure cost data and generate your own cost insights and recommendations. 


Note: You can install the CloudMonitor Power BI Reporting app (Step 1) or the CloudMonitor Analytics Engine (Step 2) in any order.


Step 1: Download the CloudMonitor App into Power BI


The first thing to do is to download the CloudMonitor App into Power BI reporting. 


The CloudMonitor PowerBI Reporting suite gives you visibility of your costs by Cost Group and cost-saving insights and recommendations. It is free to install from the Microsoft AppSource marketplace.

Download Power BI Reporting App 


Note: You will be required to sign in to Microsoft AppSource with your work or school account to download CloudMonitor into the Power BI App. Microsoft accounts are not supported for this app. 

Step 2: Download the CloudMonitor Analytics Engine in Azure


The CloudMonitor Analytics Engine is the “smarts” and AI behind your cost insights. It extracts and analyzes your cost data and prepares it for reporting in Power BI. It is free to install from the Microsoft Azure Marketplace and installs into one of your Azure Subscriptions.

Note: If possible, use your work or school account when downloading CloudMonitor from Microsoft Azure Marketplace. 

Step 3: Configure your Service Principal to Monitor Subscriptions


Once you’ve created your Service Principal, you can now configure it to monitor the subscriptions you want.

After following the steps below, send us an email for your CloudMonitor Username and Password.

Step 4: Connect the CloudMonitor PowerBI Reporting to the CloudMonitor Analytics Engine


Once you have received your login credentials, it’s time to connect your data so you can start viewing your own Azure costs.
